Lopati came to New Zealand five years ago from the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu where he had been general manager of Tuvalu Telecom Corporation.
After working as a cleaner for a year or two he became a Paramount Services franchisee in April 2007 with three clients. Today the business has grown to 15 clients in Wellington, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt and has seven staff including Lopati's daughters and their husbands, providing an income for the extended family. Lopati says Paramount Services has been a great help in developing the business. "I have encouraged other Tuvaluans to become franchisees and two have done so."
