Sustainability

Paramount Services is committed to providing customers with the most effective and sustainable cleaning practices to help your organisation take better care of the environment. The hundreds of thousands of businesses in New Zealand use a significant portion of the cleaning chemicals and contribute much of the recyclable materials which ends up in landfills - so it makes sense to consider whether the cleaning products and methods being used at your business are eco-friendly or where the recyclable materials taken away by your cleaning company end up.

Paramount invests significant time into investigating environmentally friendly cleaning products and recycling processes.

We offer a comprehensive and easy to use recycling service and also offer the latest, environmentally safer, cleaning products.

Our Sustainable Cleaning efforts include:
  • Using chemical cleaners supplied by eco-friendly EcoLab
  • Using microfibre cleaning cloths to minimise chemical cleaning and water use
  • For window cleaning we use biodegradable detergent
  • We supply Earthcare toilet paper which is 60% recycled paper
  • We offer daytime cleaning to minimise power use out of office hours

Why Should You Recycle?

Of the 86,000 tonnes of rubbish which went into Auckland landfill alone in 2007 over 23%, or 20,000 tonnes, was recyclable! Much of that was office waste – used paper, cardboard, drink bottles and cans.

Paper and Cardboard
Making paper from recycled materials results in 74 per cent less air pollution and 35 per cent less water pollution. Every tonne of paper and cardboard recycled saves 13 trees.

Glass bottles and jars
Recycling a glass jar saves enough energy to light a bulb for four hours. Recycling glass saves 25 to 32 per cent of the energy used to make it.

Plastic bottles and containers
Making a tonne of (1) plastic containers with recycled plastic conserves about 7200 kWh of electricity. Five 2L (1) bottles makes enough fibrefill for one jacket.

What is inside an albatross's belly?

Watch this video to see the shocking truth about what can be found in an albatross's stomach. It is a strong illustration of why pollution and litter on our shores is such a threat to animals. Much of what goes down our drains ends up in the sea and on shorelines.
